Salsa, Mojitos, and a Packed House: A Night to Remember for Youth Sports
Good Play America is still riding the high from an incredible Salsa & Mojitos Night on Saturday, May 16, at the Stan Pocock Rowing Centre on Bainbridge Island. The evening brought together vibrant music, energetic dancing, delicious food, and a deep sense of purpose in a beautiful celebration of culture and connection. Hosted at the scenic Bainbridge Island boathouse, the event welcomed supporters, families, partners, and friends for a memorable night dedicated to expanding opportunities for kids through sports.
Guests enjoyed electrifying live salsa performances by Saboco Salsa, along with a beginner-friendly dance lesson that quickly got the entire room moving. The evening also featured curated Colombian tastings, signature mojitos, a lively silent auction, and a powerful showcase of Good Play America’s youth sports programmes. More than just a celebration, Salsa & Mojitos was a reflection of our core mission: creating access, opportunity, and hope for young people through the power of sport.
Proceeds from the event and our ongoing campaigns directly fund Good Play America’s youth sports programmes in Colombia. These initiatives provide young people with access to sports, mentorship, teamwork, and educational opportunities that create a lasting impact both on and off the field.
An event of this scale truly takes a village. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, and gave so generously.
Our Silent Auction Champions: Thank you to the local community members and businesses who donated items, services, and experiences to our silent auction. Your generosity strengthened the impact of the night and directly fuelled our mission.
Our Sabor Sponsors: We extend a special thank you to our corporate sponsors whose generosity laid the foundation for this beautiful evening: Sound Repro, RC Cost Group, Sheldon Orthodontics, and Ihland Garden Dental Care.
We are also endlessly grateful to our community partners, volunteers, performers, and every single guest who showed up in support of the mission. Your belief in our work allows us to continue building programmes that give kids the chance to play, grow, and thrive. Thank you for dancing, donating, celebrating, and believing in these kids. We hope to see you at the next event, and we'll see the lucky winner in Seattle on July 1.
The Party is Over, But Your Chance at World Cup Tickets is Still Alive!
While the dance floor has cleared, our highly anticipated 2026 World Cup Opportunity Drawing is officially entering its final stretch! Because we are still driving towards our ultimate community fundraising goal, the grand prize drawing will take place on June 19, the exact same day the US Men’s National Team takes on Australia right here in Seattle!
Through this drawing, you have the chance to win two coveted Category 1 World Cup Playoff tickets for the July 1 match in Seattle, all while funding youth sports education in Colombia and supporting vital local Bainbridge Island community partners.
