Founded in 2022, Good Play America aims to give back through the power of sports and education. The foundation’s mission is driven by a passion for fútbol (soccer) and sports, instilled through the personal journey of Alejandro, a Colombian native who grew up playing soccer and tennis in Cali, Colombia. His love for the game not only shaped his life but also influenced his children, who shared the same enthusiasm. Motivated by the transformative impact sports had on his own life, the sport equipment his kids outgrew, and the needs he witnessed in Colombia, he saw an opportunity to make a difference by collecting and donating sport equipment.

Our Team
ALEJANDRO HENAO
GPA PRESIDENT
Alejandro grew up in Cali, Colombia, where his love for fútbol (soccer) began and later carried into the lives of his two children. Inspired by the game’s impact, the cleats his kids outgrew, and the needs he knew in Colombia, he founded Good Play America Foundation (GPA) in 2022 to provide sports opportunities for children in need. Now living in the U.S. longer than in Colombia, Alejandro continues to bridge both worlds through play, connection, and community. He is also a research scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), an avid sports enthusiast, and a passionate traveler.
ALVARO CALERO
GPA VICE-PRESIDENT
Alvaro, originally from Cali, Colombia, is the Senior Manager of Live Events and Webcasts for Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the founder of Cali Media Inc., a live event and video production company based in San Jose, CA. Since 2022, he has lived in Houston, Texas, with his wife and their two children. Having spent more than half his life in the United States, Alvaro stays closely connected to his roots while building a career in media production. Outside of work, he enjoys playing instruments, producing music, traveling, and playing soccer with friends. Serving on the Good Play America board is a highlight for him, offering a chance to impact the lives of children through sports.
JORGE MILLAN
GPA TREASURER
Jorge, originally from Cali, Colombia, moved to the United States for college and has since built both his career and family life in Trumbull, Connecticut. A passionate soccer fan, he enjoys traveling and spending time with family. With over 20 years of experience as a technology professional in large enterprises, Jorge also dedicates himself to giving back. He actively supports social causes that create opportunities for children, focusing on education, nutrition, and mental health.
